4. Read: Range: Why Generalists Triumph in a Specialised World

Following on from the above, in this book, David Epstein examined the world's most successful athletes, artists, musicians, inventors, forecasters and scientists. He discovered that in most fields, generalists, not specialists, are primed to excel.

Generalists often find their path late, and they juggle many interests rather than focusing on one. They're also more creative, more agile, and able to make connections their more specialised peers can't see. He explains how failing a test is the best way to learn and people who think broadly and embrace diverse experiences and perspectives will increasingly thrive.

30 Day Challenge:

Read Range for 21 minutes a day, and after 30 days you will be on your way to becoming a generalist genius!

Youtube is surely one of the great hubs of learning, with a simple search revealing a universe of lessons from how to boil an egg, to explanations of string theory.

Therefore, it makes sense to include a Youtube channel when discussing self-improvement. One such a channel to delve into is Vox. They tell us that we live in a world of too much information and too little context. Vox’s journalists therefore candidly shepherd audiences through topics such as politics and policy, business and pop culture, food, science, and everything else that matters. All in easy to digest, well-produced video bites.

30 Day Challenge:

Watch a Vox video every day, and after 30 days you will have expanded your knowledge on a wide variety of current affairs topic. Becoming even more of a polymath!
